Linux Mint, Windows und macOS unterscheiden sich nicht nur bei der Oberfläche. Sie stehen für verschiedene Modelle bei Anschaffung, Hardware-Lebensdauer, Kontrolle, Software und künftiger Entwicklung.
Linux Mint, Windows and macOS differ in far more than appearance. They represent different models for acquisition, hardware lifespan, control, software and future direction.
Die aktuelle Hauptausgabe ist Linux Mint 22.3. Sie ist kostenlos und wird bis April 2029 unterstützt. Cinnamon bietet eine klassische Desktop-Bedienung, während MATE und Xfce Alternativen für andere Vorlieben oder schwächere Hardware liefern.
The current main release is Linux Mint 22.3. It is free and supported until April 2029. Cinnamon provides a traditional desktop, while MATE and Xfce offer alternatives for different preferences or lighter hardware.

Windows 11 bleibt der Standard für viele kommerzielle Programme, Unternehmen und Spiele. Version 26H1 ist laut Microsoft für bestimmte neue Geräte gedacht und kein normales Funktionsupdate bestehender 24H2- oder 25H2-Systeme. Windows 10 erhielt am 14. Oktober 2025 letztmals regulären Support.
Windows 11 remains the standard for many commercial applications, businesses and games. Microsoft says version 26H1 targets certain new devices rather than serving as a normal feature update for existing 24H2 or 25H2 systems. Regular Windows 10 support ended on 14 October 2025.

Das Betriebssystem ist ein Werkzeug, keine Glaubensgemeinschaft. Menschen haben davon bereits ausreichend erfunden.
For a freely controlled everyday PC with a long useful life, Linux Mint is often the most sensible choice. Windows remains strong where applications, games or workflows demand it. macOS makes most sense when the integrated Apple environment is deliberately desired. An operating system is a tool, not a religion. Humanity has invented enough of those already.
